Mandatory RCR Training

Mandatory Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training

NIFA has recently started implementing mandatory responsible and ethical conduct of research training (RCR).

In your role as CE Specialist and/or Agron AES, you may receive funding from USDA NIFA capacity grants and are required to take this training per the USDA NIFA guidelines. Please follow the instructions below to register with CITI and complete the training.

ANR will be assisting SVM/CFAH in tracking your progress of the RCR training so proper documentation can be maintained.  Grantees are advised that the documentation of the training are subject to NIFA review upon request.

Thank you for your help in getting the School compliant with NIFA regulations and contact Leslie Nemeth if you have any questions.

FAQ'S:

When is the training required to be completed?

The training is required to be completed within 60 days of this notice.

How long does the training take?

Depending on your familiarity with the RCR topic, each module should take about 15 minutes to complete with a total time of about 3 to 4 hours. The CITI program saves each module once completed so you can exit the training and return at a later date to continue where you left off.

How often will I have to retake the training?

Training is required every three years.

What will happen if I do not complete the training?

As this is a requirement of the federal award, if you do not complete the training you will be removed from the project until the RCR training is completed.
